Three years ago, Andi Price and Tom Sale sat down and came up with an idea. They wanted to share, collaborate, and support each other, as Tom was returning back to the classroom after working for the MOE for 2 years previously. Both were Year 6 teachers, both were teaching the same British curriculum, both were wanting to innovate and make an impact in the classroom. The hashtag #CollabUAE was born!
Over the next couple of years, Tom and Andi continued to tweet #CollabUAE for various resources and ideas they shared and slowly others started to notice and use the hashtag when asking for support or collaborations or answers to UAE based questions. Fast forward 3 years and #CollabUAE is the most used education hashtag within the UAE.
But they didn’t stop there! Andi and Tom realized that collaboration is the key and decided to develop the CollabUAE brand. They wanted to bring about a change, one that every educator in the UAE could be part of, one that allowed teachers the opportunities to share, collaborate and network whilst also gaining free CPD (Curriculum Professional Development). With this in mind, they organized their first event (a Teachmeet) whereby teachers have 7 minutes to share a resource, an app, a book, a leadership style - anything that has impact both in the classroom or in school.
